  • Application Developer:

Job Duties: WCSC, Inc. is seeking an Application Developer for the Meridian, ID location to create technical designs, program code and unit test based on functional requirement design, adhering to departmental development, testing and documentation standards. In addition, this position will plan and execute unit test to ensure all business rules in the functional designs and technical options in the technical design are properly covered by the application.

Job responsibilities and duties include:

  • Develop quality technical solutions in their development language and toolsets.
  • Collaborate with configuration analysts to transform business system designs into bug-free application software.
  • Design, code, test, implement, maintain, and support application software in technical areas and toolset of the application.
  • Deliver bug-free programs to the configuration analyst for string/integration testing.
  • Work with configuration analysts to understand business requirements and scope.
  • Map requirements to the proper technical solution.
  • Apply experience and knowledge of different development options to evaluate multiple alternatives and determine the optimal technical solution for Medline.
  • Develop framework, application architecture and technical architecture to create solutions that fit in to the overall system landscape.
  • Consider and document long-term data storage needs, perform application and restart/recovery factors during the design and development process.
  • Look for and find opportunities to reuse/leverage off existing program code during the technical design and development process.
  • Develop program code with consideration of future reuse of newly developed code, modularizing and documenting appropriately.
  • Employ proper data modeling techniques when developing new data structures to support applications.
  • Follow departmental and team standards as they apply to source code control and transport management.
  • Display an understanding of debugging techniques when investigating issues with programs.
  • Debug code in technical area of expertise for functional and performance issues.
  • Serve as on-call support for critical issues during non-working hours as documented in team support schedule.
  • Consider data sensitivity and process control to determine security and user authorization impacts.
  • Work with manager and with corporate auditing to ensure that access to systems and data are authorized only to the proper people.

This position has no direct reports and does not supervise or manage any other personnel.

Minimum Requirements:  Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or any related IT field of study, plus at least five (5) years of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in any related position(s). Employer will accept a foreign degree.

Alternatively, the company will accept a Bachelor’s degree in any field of study, plus at least seven (7) years of post-degree, progressively responsible experience in any related position(s). Employer will accept a foreign degree.

Qualified applicants must also have demonstrable proficiency, knowledge, skill, and experience with the following:

  1. Demonstrated ability to convert designs/requirements into ABAP code.
  2. ABAP experience including structured programming, dialog programming, user exits.
  3. Demonstrated experience in facilitating design meetings with users, management, and architects.

Domestic travel required approximately 10% of the time; work from home benefit available.

Must be available as on-call support for critical issues during non-working hours, on occasion and as documented in team support schedule.
